Emirates International School - Meadows Prepares for New School Year Following Outstanding Results

30-AUG-2017
  • Highest-achieving MYP and DP school in Dubai

Students at Emirates International School – Meadows prepare to start the new school year with the knowledge that EIS-M achieved its best academic results to date. The Meadows campus, which only just launched the MYP program in the 2016/2017 academic year, outperformed all other schools in Dubai who offer the MYP and DP program.

EIS-Meadows saw 100 per cent of the Year 11 cohort entered for the external assessments. Ninety-four per cent of those students were awarded the full MYP certificate. The highest performers were Luca Simic, age 16, from Croatia, and Aneeha Bajpai, age 15, from India who achieved 54 points out of a possible 56 points.

A further 17 per cent of the cohort achieved 50 points and above bringing the average score at EISM to 42.8 – well above the world average of 35.8.

Kathryn Dyche-Nichols, Principal, Emirates International School – Meadows said, “We are delighted with our results and very proud of our students and teaching staff. We set high expectations each year, and ensure that we maintain those standards all year. We look forward to building further on our strengths in the academic year ahead. Emirates International School - Meadows is committed to academic excellence.”

The school also saw 153 Level 7’s being awarded to students across the range of subjects the school offers. Level 7 is the top mark. EISM was above the world average in 18 out of the 20 subjects students were entered for.

The Middle Years Program (MYP) is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. It is a five-year program from the ages 11-16.

The results followed outstanding IB results at EIS this year. EISM achieved among the best International Baccalaureate results in Dubai in the 2016/2017 academic year reflecting the school’s best performance to date.  Two EISM students achieved the maximum 45 points overall and join the very small select group of students who do so worldwide. Armin Ghofani and Rahul Samuel attribute their perfect scores to the support and guidance given by the school. All EISM students gained entry in the University of their choice following the DP results, of special mention is Vishal Kumar who has been accepted at Oxford University to study Law.

Emirates International School is owned by the UAE conglomerate Al Habtoor Group.
