Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group welcomed a delegation from The Dubai Foundation for Women & Children (DFWAC) at his office on Al Wasl Road on Sunday 13 March, 2016. The delegation included Afra Al Basti, Director General, Nora ElSheikh, Agreement & Partnership Executive and Jawaher Al Dossari, Funding Director. Also present was Noura Badawi; Chief Communications Officer, Al Habtoor Group and Abdul Salam Al Marzooqi, General Manager, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation.
The group informed the Chairman about the work conducted by the charitable organization. The Dubai Foundation for Women & Children was set up in 2007 to offer immediate protection and support services for women and children in the UAE against domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking. The DFWAC was the first licensed non-profit shelter in the UAE that runs especially for the care of women and children. It also helps reintroduce divorced women into society; provides them with shelter and helps them to find work.
The delegation told the Chairman that abuse comes in various forms whether it is physical or psychological; the scars are not always visible.
Al Habtoor commended the good work carried out by the Foundation. “If we follow our religion, then it is our responsibility to care for our families not to harm them or shun them. We must respect them and protect them. This is our duty,” he said.
The DFWAC provides many services including care and rehabilitation, community awareness, research and victim-centred support programs.
Several years ago Al Habtoor set up a Foundation in his name to help promote peace and prosperity, bridge East and West and to assist in local community program. Al Habtoor said he would be willing to assist in any way possible.
