Al Habtoor Group Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor has donated the sum of AED 105,750 to the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation in Dubai to purchase a bus for the Family Village. The Family Village is the first Awqaf community of its kind initiated by the Foundation to provide homes for up to 120 orphans in Dubai. The donated bus will be used to transport children from the village which contains 16 villas, a fully-equipped nursery, a kindergarten and a medical facility.
The donation came during a meeting on Wednesday 6 April 2016 between Ahmed Abu Shehab, Director of Development cessation of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Department, and Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor. The meeting was also attended by senior executives from the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation and the Al Habtoor Group.
Ahmed Abu Shehab expressed his appreciation for Al Habtoor’s donation. He said, “On the behalf of the Family Village, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Al Habtoor Group for this noble initiative that shows that the authorities and businessmen in the emirate of Dubai are keen on supporting humanitarian projects.”
He added, “It is really heartwarming to see private foundations and companies as well as individuals contribute to these efforts in order to promote the culture of charity and humanitarian assistance in the society.”
Al Habtoor said, “This donation stems from our belief in the important role that the private institutions must play in society. The Family Village is the first of its kind in the world, and sets the example for others to follow. I hope that others will do what they can to help people less fortunate than themselves.”
He added, “The Awqaf Foundations are an important feature of the socio-economic structure of the Muslim society given their substantial role in the fight against poverty. The Waqf is a long-term investment and charity project that benefits future generations. It aims at developing human and financial resources. I urge other philanthropists and businessmen and women, as well as to all segments of society, to contribute to such charitable projects.”
