Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman, Al Habtoor Group, welcomed a delegation from the Bahrain-based Good Word Society at his office on Al Wasl Road on Thursday April 14, 2016. The delegation included Hassan BoHazza, Director General of the Association and Head of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work; Latifa Youssef Al BoRashed, supervisor of the Women’s Department, Saoud Al Yassi, Supervisor of the Men’s Department, and Badriya Mohammad Al Mahmeed, PR Manager.
The Good Word Society is a Bahrain-based civil society organization that focuses on development and growth in cooperation with the Bahraini government and civil institutions. Its core mission is to build institutional models of excellence in a framework of solidarity and engagement.
The delegation briefed Khalaf Al Habtoor on the projects undertaken by the Association, mainly the Al Muharraq Senior Care Home that reflects the Association’s interest in helping the elderly, and its desire to contribute to government and civil efforts to care for the elderly and help them integrate back into society. Through the Senior Care Home, the Association provides services for over four thousand pensioners.
Al Habtoor commended the Association for its efforts, specifically on the Senior Care Home. “Taking care of the elderly is an obligation in accordance with the commandments of the Prophet (PBUH). The Holy Quran tells us to show respect and appreciation for our patents in old age.” He added, “The Elderly are our fathers and predecessors, they are the candles of compassion, and it is our duty to take care of them in compliance with God’s will.”
During the meeting, Hassan BoHazza invited Al Habtoor to join the Board of Trustees of the Arab Union for Volunteer Work, which is a part of the Arab League, and to be named 2016 Ambassador of the Arab Volunteer Work and representative of the United Arab Emirates.
Al Habtoor thanked Hassan BoHazza for the invitation and apologized for not being able to join the Board of Trustees of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work due to his busy work schedule.
