Mohammed Al Habtoor Hold Talks with Slovenian Ambassador to the UAE

Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO, Al Habtoor Group held talks with Her Excellency Tatjana Miškova, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Arab Emirates (non-resident) on Thursday 1 September 2016 at the Al Habtoor Group head office. It was the first meeting between the two following the Ambassador’s appointment to the position. Also present was Aleš Selan, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Cairo.

They discussed potential collaboration between the Al Habtoor Group and Slovenian companies, and the benefits of Slovenia’s location in the heart of Europe, and its proximity to the Balkans and Russia.  The Ambassador said Slovenia is an attractive destination for foreign investment given its advantageous location, growing economy and active export market.

Mohammed Al Habtoor said that the Al Habtoor Group has been actively increasing its presence in Europe over the past few years. “While most of our investments are in the UAE, we have been investing heavily in the West. We have expanded our portfolio to two hotels in Budapest, one in Vienna, and one in London.”

He added, “We have also looked at potential investments in parts of Eastern Europe, including the Republic of Tatarstan, and Albania. We are always on the lookout for good quality investments.”

The Group’s European hospitality portfolio now includes The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest; The InterContinental, Budapest; The Hotel Imperial, Vienna; Hilton London Wembley.

The Vice-Chairman and CEO highlighted the benefits of doing business in the UAE: “The United Arab Emirates encourages companies to come and invest in the country. There are endless opportunities for Slovenian companies here.”
